Handpicked in Telciu is a cultural activities program that brings together local people, young artists and researchers. This project is inspired by the Telciu contemporary life in the creation of new artistic productions. These activities will be presented in autumn in Piatra Neamț, Iași, Sibiu, Bucharest, Zalău and Cluj.
Initiated in 2018, the project continues in 2019 with a new series of residents who will create new artistic products inspired by, and documented in Telciu, that will be presented in a tour through the major cities in the country. This year, the program will include:
- a book at the boundary between anthropological observation and literary
reportage, which represents the collaboration between two writers (also journalists / researchers), together with the young people from the village, a volume that will focus on the socializing modes.
- a theatre-play for young people, starting from documenting the realities of Romani children whose parents work abroad, a theatre play based on the collaboration between a Romani director, an actress and the young people from the Telciu and Romuli villages.
- a Comic book made by a graphic artist together with a school teacher, and also with the essential contribution of the pupils from Romuli General School and Telciu Technological High School, a book that explores, from different perspectives, the daily life in the villages.
- a theatre-reading performance about the personal histories of the families in Telciu, from the perspectives of the different models and their luidity, as they will be documented by a playwright and a director.
Handpicked in Telciu is a project co-funded by the National Cultural Fund Administration. The project does not necessarily represent AFCN's position. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or the way the project results can be used. This is entirely the responsibility of the beneficiary of the funding.
